Seth MacFarlane’s hit animated show Family Guy is trading homes in the UK this autumn, with news announced today that The Griffins are set for a move to ITV2 from their previous home on BBC Three.
Beginning with the fifteenth season of the show, Family Guy will air exclusively on ITV2 in a multi-year deal that will also see MacFarlane’s other shows, American Dad, The Cleveland Show and Bordertown (his latest effort) make the move.
Despite the new deal, the BBC have confirmed that the show will still air on BBC Three until 2017 with re-runs of the previous 14 seasons continuing as daily double-bills as part of the late-night line-up.
Speaking today on the deal, ITV’s Director of Television, Peter Fincham, said: “Seth MacFarlane’s shows have firmly established him as the comedy voice of choice for an entire generation. Seth is sharp, hugely irreverent and brilliantly funny which is reflected in his fantastic shows. We are delighted to be welcoming him and his comic creations to ITV.”
Marion Edwards of 20th Century Fox Television also added: “Family Guy is one of our most important, iconic series and we are very excited about this new collaboration. We are confident that this extraordinary series will not only bring its loyal fanbase to ITV, but will also be embraced by an entirely new set of fans.”
