Chronicle and Fruitvale Station star Michael B. Jordan is certainly popular these days; over the past couple of months he’s been linked to the role of Johnny Storm in The Fantastic Four and Apollo Creed’s grandson in the Rocky spin-off Creed, and now we can add another film to that list with The Wrap reporting that he’s met with director Roland Emmerich about a “major role” in the forthcoming Independence Day sequel ID Forever.
Although no specific role has been mentioned, the obvious choice would be the now-adult stepson of Will Smith’s Captain Steven Hiller, who has been said to play a part in the two-part follow-up, which is set some twenty years after the original movie. As for Smith it’s anyone’s guess whether he’ll return, with Emmerich having recently suggested he could be up for reprising his first blockbuster role after earlier ruling out his involvement.
ID Forever Part I is set for release on July 3rd 2015, with Emmerich penning the script alongside regular producing partner Dean Devlin and The Amazing Spider-Man scribe James Vanderbilt.
