Last July it seemed that the long-rumoured live-action reboot Masters of the Universe might finally be on its way to the screen, with Sony Pictures and Escape Artists tapping Jon M. Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) to direct He-Man’s second big screen adventure.
However the project now looks to have hit yet another stumbling block, with The Hollywood Reporter revealing that Chu – who is currently prepping G.I. Joe 3 – is now no longer attached to direct, while Terry Rossio, co-writer of Disney’s big-budget flop The Lone Ranger along with the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, has been brought in to rewrite the script for the film.
Rossio becomes the latest screenwriter to work on the script for the Masters of the Universe reboot, with the project having already passed across the desk of Alex Litvak (The Three Musketeers) and Mike Finch (Exclusively Yours) – under the working title Grayskull – along with Richard Wenk (The Expendables 2).
