Right, someone needs to make up their minds about whether this film is happening or not.
Despite telling people that Army of Darkness 2 was going ahead (not to mention Fede Alverez also saying it was happening), Ash Williams himself Bruce Campbell has dispelled the rumours by saying that there is no truth behind the claims and that the movie is “way not confirmed”.
“It’s all Internet b.s. – there’s no reality whatsoever” the b-movie legend told Erin Darling at Comikaze. “These random comments slip out of my mouth or Sam Raimi’s mouth, next thing you know, we’re making a sequel. Unless it’s announced from Renaissance Pictures, it’s not real”
He then goes on to talk about how the Internet “prays” to rumours. “I feel bad for people” Campbell said. “The Internet prays to mis-information. It’s unbelievable how much mis-information there is.”
Yeah, mis-information you reported Bruce.
Campbell also address the rumours of Fede Alvarez’s involvement of the sequel to this year’s Evil Dead remake by claiming the director is not working on the project:
“Fede’s going off to do other stuff. He did great work for us and we’d have him back in a second, but he’s got a new movie he’s working on. So we lost him!”
When also questioned if he’d ever appear in a Marvel Zombies adaptation (the series did cross over with Army of Darkness), he said, “I would never play that character for any other director than Sam Raimi.”
Which I guess also dispels any rumours from back in the day about Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash…
