Lionsgate “actively developing” Saw 8

After putting the breaks on the franchise due to diminishing returns and Halloween competition from the Paranormal Activity series, Lionsgate has decided that the time is right for another instalment in the horror series Saw, with Blooding Disgusting revealing that the studio is actively developing Saw 8.

According to the report, the studio is planning a new direction for the franchise but are taking their time as they seek “the perfect take to move forward.” Apparently, there’s been talk of a remake, but the preference is to continue the established storyline, which pulled in almost $873 million across the first seven movies between 2004 and 2010 and originally spawned from a 2003 short by James Wan and Leigh Whannell.
