Breaking Bad’s Jesse Plemons to meet with J.J. Abrams for Star Wars: Episode VII lead

January 11, 2014 by admin

If you believe everything you read, virtually every actor in Hollywood has been in to audition for roles in Star Wars: Episode VII, and I’m sure like us you’ve lost count of all the casting rumours we’ve had to suffer through over the past year or so.

Well, now we have a report that might just carry a little more weight than all of those dubious “scoops”, with The Wrap reporting that Breaking Bad star Jesse Plemons will meet with director J.J. Abrams (Star Trek Into Darkness) next week, having previously impressed with a taped audition that’s said to have been well-received by those at Lucasfilm.

Although there’s no word on the potential role, the site goes on to speculate that Plemons could be auditioning for Luke Skywalker’s son due to his resemblance to Mark Hamill, who is expected to reprise the role of the Jedi Knight (well, he’d be a Master now surely) alongside Original Trilogy stars Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher. R2-D2 is set to return, while Anthony Daniels has also let slip that he’ll be back as C-3PO.

Star Wars: Episode VII is set for release on December 18th 2015.
