Hans Zimmer on scoring The Amazing Spider-Man 2

January 20, 2014 by admin

There’s no doubt that Hans Zimmer knows a thing or two about composing for superhero movies, having scored Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises and Man of Steel, but this year’s he’s swapping DC for Marvel, providing the music for Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 alongside a “supergroup” that includes Pharrell Williams, Johnny Marr (The Smiths), Michael Einziger (Incubus) and Dave Stewart (Eurythmics).

During a new video interview (via CBM), Zimmer has spoken about scoring the forthcoming sequel, and how it differs from composing for Batman and Superman: “I felt nobody ever addressed the idea that Peter Parker is young, and that the music he would listen to, that would move him, would be different from the music Batman would listen to. And I thought there should be a playfulness about it.”

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set for release on April 18th 2014 in the UK and May 2nd 2014 in North America with a cast that includes Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, Dane DeHaan, Sally Field, Chris Cooper, Felicity Jones, Colm Feore, B.J. Novak, Chris Zylka, Embeth Davidtz, and Campbell Scott.
