Known rumour spreaders Latino Review claimed that the role of The Man Without Fear was to be played by British actor Charlie Cox in Marvel’s Daredevil. While Latino Review were keen to point out this was just a rumour, they were confident in their sources.
Marvel later confirmed the story and revealed the show’s synopsis:
Marvel is proud to announce that acclaimed actor Charlie Cox has joined “Marvel’s Daredevil,” an all-new 13-episode series premiering on Netflix in 2015. Best known for his acclaimed work in “Boardwalk Empire” and “Stardust,” Cox will play Matt Murdock, the lead role in this all-new Marvel Television series. Blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, Matt Murdock fights against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.
Drew Goddard left Daredevil so he could commit full-time to The Amazing Spider-Man spin-off The Sinister Six over at Sony Pictures. Buffy the Vampire Slayer producer Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus) has taken his place.
Marvel’s Daredevil will air next year in a 13-episode season on Netflix and will be followed by Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones before the foursome team up to become The Defenders.
