Despite the fact that the actor has went on record on several occasions to deny his casting, Drew McWeeney of Hitfix is reporting that former Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa has signed on to play Aquaman in the DC Cinematic Universe, and that the King of Atlantis will make his debut with an appearance in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
According to the usually reliable site, “Zack Snyder has already finalised his designs for the character so shooting can take place soon”, and that Aquaman won’t have a major role in the upcoming film but will instead be set up for what will presumably be a more substantial part in Justice League. Of course, nothing is official until we hear it from Warner Bros., but this does seem to be the rumour that won’t die, and it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if we get confirmation at the San Diego Comic-Con next month.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is set for release on May 6th 2016 with Zack Snyder directing a cast that includes returning Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill (Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent) and Laurence Fishburne (Perry White) alongside Ben Affleck (Argo) as Batman, Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 6) as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jesse Eisenberg (Now You See Me) as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons (The Borgias) as Alfred Pennyworth and Holly Hunter (The Piano), Callan Mulvey (300: Rise of an Empire), and Tao Okamoto (The Wolverine) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
