THR is reporting that Friday Night Lights actress Adrianne Palicki has joined the second season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as fan-favorite character, Avenger, and future wife of Hawkeye, Mockingbird.
Mockingbird is the alter-ego of super spy Bobbi Morse, who will first appear in the fifth episode of the upcoming season, debuting “perhaps not as an ally to Coulson and his team.”
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. marks Palicki’s third superhero television series. She infamously played Wonder Woman in the failed NBC pilot from David E. Kelley in 2011, and played the character Nadia in The WB’s Aquaman pilot in 2006.
Palicki is just the latest addition to the series, which has been picking up quite a few guest stars over the past few weeks including Xena: Warrior Princess and Battlestar Galactica alum Lucy Lawless as S.H.I.E.L.D. veteran Isabel Hartly, Reed Diamond (Dollhouse) as HYDRA baddie Daniel Whitehall a.k.a. Kraken, Nick Blood (Trollied) as Lance Hunter, Simon Kassianides (Quantum of Solace) as Bakshi, Henry Simmons (NYPD Blue) as Alphonso “Mac” Mackenzie, and Twin Peaks‘ Kyle MacLachlan as Skye’s father.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns to television on September 23 on ABC with Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson), Ming-Na Wen (Melinda May), Chloe Bennet (Skye), Iain De Caestecker (Leo Fitz), Elizabeth Henstridge (Jemma Simmons), Brett Dalton (Grant Ward), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), J. August Richards (Deathlok) and B.J. Britt (Antoine Triplett) all returning to the cast.
