Just last week, Baz Bamigboye over at The Daily Mail reported that John Logan, who co-wrote Skyfall back in 2012, had been moved aside from his work on Bond 24 so that franchise veterans Robert Wade and Neal Purvis (The World Is Not Enough, Casino Royale) could come in and help add some much needed “thrills” to the script.
Directed again by Sam Mendes, it is rumoured that the original version of Bond 24 wasn’t up to scratch, and that the work that the Bond veterans are currently doing on it will be “substantially different” to what has been contributed by Logan. However, whatever issues with the script there may be, the producers are still set for filming, which is set to go ahead in November or December this year.
Of course, with filming set to begin before the year is out, it also means that casting rumours are sure to circulate between now and then. Schmoes Know is reporting that Blue Is the Warmest Colour star Lea Seydoux is the top choice for producers in an as-yet unspecified role in the new film, alongside the returning Daniel Craig (Bond), Ralph Fiennes (M), Naomie Harris (Moneypenny) and Ben Whishaw (Q). As with many stories that are sure to come out in the coming months, this is only rumour and should be taken with a pinch of salt for the time being.
Also coming in today through The Metro and The Sun is a rumour that hot young artist Sam Smith is being courted to perform the title track for the film. Whilst The Sun claims the producers want Adele to return for the new film, they are apparently looking at other alternatives, including Smith.
Bond 24 opens on October 23rd in the UK, with a US release on November 6, 2015.
