Aside from Ant-Man, Captain America 3 and Guardians of the Galaxy 2, we’re still waiting for confirmation on the rest of the Phase Three line-up for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We know that Doctor Strange and Thor 3 are both all but confirmed, but it seems we can rule out any possibility of a fourth Iron Man movie in the next crop of Marvel movies, according to Tony Stark himself, Robert Downey Jr….
“There isn’t one in the pipe,” Downey told Variety at the Toronto International Film Festival, where he is currently promoting his latest film The Judge. “No, there’s no plans for a fourth Iron Man.”
Considering that Downey’s current Marvel contract only extends to the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron and its follow-up Avengers 3, those comments won’t come as much of a surprise, although Downey did indicate back in July that he would be open to another solo outing as the Armored Avenger. And with Iron Man 3 banking over $1.215 billion at the box office, it’s assured that Iron Man 4 will become a reality at some point, with or without Robert Downey Jr. in the suit.
