It looks like William Shatner could be set to reunite with Leonard Nimoy on screen as Kirk and Spock for the first time since 1991’s Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country as the sci-fi franchise celebrates its 50th anniversary.
According to Bad Ass Digest, a scene between the two is included in the script for 2016’s Star Trek 3, which is set to be directed by Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness co-writer Roberto Orci. The Kirk cameo is said to be “plot-driven and integral enough that it might just survive any future revisions” – unlike the Shatner / Kirk cameo that was ultimately dropped from the 2009 reboot.
Take this one as a rumour for now, but it would certainly be fitting to see Shatner back as Kirk one last time as Trek reaches its half-century milestone. Would you like to see Kirk returning to Star Trek?
