UK box office top ten and analysis for the weekend of Friday 26th to Sunday 28th September 2014…
We’ve seen a few live event screenings popping up in the top ten over the past year or so, but now for the very first time one has topped the UK box office chart, with a live screening of Billy Elliot: The Musical pulling in £1,904,098 to claim top spot over the weekend.
Billy Elliot narrowly fought off competition from the Denzel Washington action thriller The Equalizer, which took second place with £1,890,146, while the British comedy What We Did On Our Holiday was the only other newcomer in the top ten, taking fourth with a solid opening weekend of £811,087.
