Following in the footsteps of Gotham, Syfy and Warner Horizon Television have announced a new show Krypton, based on Superman’s grandfather and set on his home planet of, well, Krypton.
Here’s the show logline:
“Years before the Superman legend we know, the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This series follows The Man of Steel’s grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known.”
This is a project that has been rumoured back in October and is being developed by David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight trilogy, Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) and Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time). Goldberg is writing the teleplay based on a story concept from the pair.
No word yet on a air date, but Krypton joins a bevy of TV shows based on DC Comic properties including Arrow, The Flash, Gotham, Constantine and the soon-to-air Supergirl, which is currently looking for a leading lady.
What do you think of a TV show based on Krypton? Or should DC have done a TV-version of Superman to cross over with Arrow and The Flash?
