Deadline is reporting that Frank Darabont will no longer direct The Huntsman for Universal. Darabont had been attached to the project for the last few months but has now left due to ‘creative differences’.
This would have been Frank Darabont’s first film since The Mist in 2007. Over the last few years Darabont had worked on The Walking Dead and Mob City television shows.
The sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman will see Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron reprising their roles, whilst Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow, Into the Woods) has reportedly signed on to play the film’s villain.
Despite Darabont’s departure, the movie will still hold its April 22nd, 2016 release date.
Snow White and the Huntsman was directed by Rupert Sanders and grossed $400 million worldwide.
