Back during the Sony hack, it was revealed that former studio chairman Amy Pascal was keen on having Idris Elba (Luther, Thor: The Dark World) take on the role of super spy James Bond when Daniel Craig decides it’s time to retire his license to kill, and now Elba has received the seal of approval from former 007 Pierce Brosnan.
“Yeah, [Elba] would make a good Bond,” Brosnan told the Radio Times. “Colin Salmon also. May the best man get the job and may Daniel bring home the bacon for as long as he wants.”

Fellow Brit Salmon has already appeared in three Bond films – Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day – as MI6 Deputy Chief of Staff Charles Robinson, so he may be a long shot, but Elba has already admitted he’d take on the role if offered, and there seems to be plenty of fan support for his casting. So, could Elba be our next 007?
Daniel Craig is currently shooting the 24th Bond, SPECTRE, which is set for release in the UK on October 23rd and in the States on November 6th.
