Announced back in January, former Doctor Who David Tennant will be taking on the role of Zebediah Killgrave aka Purple Man in the upcoming Netflix show A.K.A. Jessica Jones, which is set to debut next year.
“This is something I grew up with,” Tennant said at North Carolina’s Wizard World (via withanaccent.com). “It’s like my eight year old self doesn’t know what to do with himself. I think comic books are a glorious wonderful art form and I think Marvel is one of the things that we’ll be looking back on in a hundred years’ time they’ll be one of the cornerstones of our cultural existence.”
Tennant also had a trip round Marvel recently and seemed to have grand old time. “I got shown around and clever people gave me comic books and told me how they got made and met people that spent their day doing that stuff,” he explained. “It was so exciting.”
When asked about why he wanted to come work with Marvel he said, “It comes down to stories. It comes down to the heart and that’s what makes the stories sing.”
Also featuring in the cast of A.K.A. Jessica Jones are Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad) as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter (The Following) as Luke Cage, Rachael Taylor (Transformers) as Trish Walker / Hellcat, Eka Darville (The Originals), Erin Moriarty (The Kings of Summer) and Wil Traval (Red Widow) and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix) in an as-yet-unrevealed role.
