Helen Slater and Dean Cain’s roles in Supergirl revealed?

March 15, 2015 by admin

It was rather exciting fan news when it was announced that former Supergirl Helen Slater and former Superman Dean Cain had joined the cast of CBS’s Supergirl, which will see Melissa Benoist take on the role of Kara Zor-El.

Slater and Cain were announced as joining the cast, but it was not revealed who they would be playing. But those keen eyes at KryptonSite have noted that the show’s IMDB page has listed the actors as playing Fred and Sylvia Danvers, the adoptive parents of Kara.

Of course, this is not an official bit of news as IMDB is often user controlled and can get things wrong. However, Supergirl is being produced by Greg Berlanti, who is also the showrunner on The Flash, which has seen original The Flash star John Wesley Shipp come onto the show as the father of Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen. So, totally within the realms of possibility.

Based on the DC Comics character, the drama tells the story of Kara Zor-El, who was born on the planet Krypton, but escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin Superman. But now, at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.

Supergirl sees Melissa Benoist (Whiplash) joined in the cast by Chyler Leigh (Grey’s Anatomy) as Alexandra Danvers, Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal) as Cat Grant, Laura Benanti (Nashville) as Alura Zor-El, David Harewood (Selfie) as Hank Henshaw, Mechad Brooks (Necessary Roughness) as Jimmy Olsen, Jeremy Jordan (The Last Five Years) as Winslow Schott, Faran Tahir (Iron Man) as The Commander and Dean Cain (Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) and Helen Slater (Supergirl) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
