Over the past few years, Marvel Studios has firmly established its Hall H panel as one of – if not the – highlights of the San Diego Comic-Con, and with Phase Three beckoning, they’re sure to have something exciting in store for us this year, right?
Well, maybe not.
According to Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, Marvel Studios will be skipping Comic-Con altogether this year, stating on Facebook (via MCU Exchange) that “Marvel isn’t going so I’m not sure I will either.” This prompted suggestions on Twitter that Gunn could be lying to keep Marvel’s plans a surprise, to which he responded “I have never lied about anthing to the fans, ever.”
It would certainly be a blow to fans if Marvel skipped Comic-Con, but realistically they’ll only have Ant-Man to promote (which could even be included as part of Disney’s panel), so perhaps they’re holding back until New York Comic Con in October, at which point Captain America: Civil War will have filmed and Doctor Strange will likely be gearing up to go into production.
Will you be disappointed if Marvel is absent from Comic-Con this year?
