Before we saw any footage from 20th Century Fox’s upcoming reboot of The Fantastic Four, star Michael B. Jordan spoke about the costumes for Marvel’s First Family, stating that they’d be getting a “new look” and describing the outfits as “containment suits”.
Since then, we have of course seen the first trailer, and sure enough the costumes on display were very different to the Fantastic Four’s regular look. However, it appears that we will be seeing the traditional costumes at some point in the film, with Miles Teller telling Screen Crush that:
“These are the beta versions of the costumes, which is great… But, yeah it would be very odd if the Fantastic Four didn’t don the traditional costumes. You’ve got to. There is some servicing there. You’ve got to give that to the fans. That’s what it’s all about.”
The Fantastic Four is set for release on August 7th with Josh Trank directing a cast that includes Miles Teller (Whiplash) as Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara (American Horror Story) as the Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station) as the Human Torch, Jamie Bell (Nymphomaniac) as The Thing, Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Doctor Doom, Reg E. Cathey (The Wire) as Dr. Storm, and Tim Blake Nelson (The Incredible Hulk) as Harvey Elder.
