Onslaught and Antiphon are reportedly the villains in Suicide Squad

March 11, 2015 by James Garcia

David Ayer’s Suicide Squad film is chalk full of villains, who will headline the film as the core group of super criminals-turned-mercenaries. However, even the likes of Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Rick Flag, and Enchantress need someone to go up against. According to Latino-Review, that enemy may have been found.

The site reports that Antiphon, a character who first appeared in the pages of Suicide Squad in 2002, will be the main baddie for the film, and will lead a “badass terrorist cell” called Onslaught. In the comics, Onslaught is a team of international superpowered terrorists-for-hire. The team is usually made up of lesser-known villains like Djinn, a man who has been reduced to binary code, a speedster named Jaculi, an assassin named Rivan and a genetically altered monster in lion armor called Manticore. Whether any of them will show up on screen remains to be seen.

Latino-Review describes Onslaught as a special ops team made up of mercenaries, who are hunting down villains and heroes for their own agenda. Antiphon is a burn victim with a prosthetic leg, and was supposedly the role that Ed Harris has been rumored for.

The site claims that it will have more Suicide Squad news to reveal throughout the week, so perhaps we’ll know more about these potential roles in the coming days.

Suicide Squad is set for release on August 5th 2016, and features a cast that includes Joel Kinnaman (RoboCop) as Rick Flagg, Will Smith (Hancock) as Deadshot, Jai Courtney (Terminator: Genisys) as Captain Boomerang, Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) as The Joker and Viola Davis (How to get Away with Murder) as Amanda Waller. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star Jesse Eisenberg is also expected to reprise the role of Lex Luthor and Jay Hernandez (Hostel) has joined the cast in an unknown role.
