Disney has has announced that Winnie the Pooh is set to become its latest animated property to get the live-action treatment, with Alex Ross Perry (Listen Up Philip) signing on to write the adaptation. According to Deadline, the movie will see a now-adult Christopher Robin revisiting Pooh’s hangout in the Hundred Arce Wood.
Disney’s assocatiation with A.A. Milne’s classic character dates back to 1966 and the theatrical short Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, which was followed by five more shorts and numerous TV series and direct-to-video features, as well as four theatrical movies, the last of which came in 2011.
Winnie the Pooh becomes the latest live-action adaptation from Disney, following in the footsteps of Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent and Cinderella, and joining an upcoming slate that includes The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo, Mulan and Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass.
