Asa Butterfield reportedly cast as Spider-Man

May 14, 2015 by Gary Collinson

If reports are to be believed, it looks like Marvel and Sony may have settled on their new Spider-Man, with Umberto Gonzalez (a.k.a. former Latino-Review writer ElMayimbe) claiming that Asa Butterfield (Hugo, Ender’s Game) has been cast as the wall-crawler for his Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot and an official announcement will be made once the deal is finalised.

Butterfield was first rumoured alongside Nat Wolff (The Fault in Our Stars), Timothee Chalamet (Interstellar), Liam James (2012) and Timothee Chamalet (Interstellar) last month, with Latino-Review claiming then that he was the number one choice and had actually already been cast.

Spider-Man will make his MCU debut in next year’s Captain America: Civil War, and will follow it up with a solo movie in July 2017.
