Recently, Disney has made a big push for live-action adaptations of its most beloved characters; we’ve already seen films for the likes of Maleficent, Alice in Wonderland and Cinderella, and will soon get The Jungle Book, Alice: Through the Looking Glass, Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, Winnie the Pooh, Pinocchio and even Dumbo. And now, we can officially add Tinker Bell to that list as well.
According to THR, Reese Witherspoon has jumped on board a Tinker Bell film, titled Tink, that will shed some live-action light on the famous Peter Pan companion. Victoria Strouse, who wrote Finding Nemo and its upcoming sequel, Finding Dory, has been attached to pen the screenplay.
No solid details about the project are available at this time, though the report notes that it will likely “play with the idea and the timeline of the well-known Peter Pan narrative.” Much like Maleficent, the film will offer a new perspective on the classic tale, though it will be made with a more modest, mid-range budget.
We’ll have more news on Tink as it becomes available.
