The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Tilda Swinton (We Need to Talk About Kevin, Snowpiercer) is in talks with Marvel Studios about taking on the role of the Ancient One in next year’s Doctor Strange.
Initially Marvel had been looking for a male actor to portray Dr. Stephen Strange’s mentor, with Morgan Freeman (The Dark Knight Rises), Ken Watanabe (Godzilla) and Bill Nighy (Pride) rumoured as potential candidates, although the part has subsequently been reworked.
Doctor Strange is to be directed by Scott Derrickson (Sinister), with Benedict Cumberbatch set for the role of the Sorcerer Supreme. The film is slated for release on November 4th 2016.
