Jack Huston exits The Crow remake

June 15, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Variety is this evening reporting that Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire) has exited the long-gestating remake of 1994’s The Crow, which is currently in pre-production.

Huston was set to play the title role made famous by the late Brandon Lee in the original film, but has had to drop the project due to scheduling issues around other projects. Corin Hardy (The Hallow) is directing the film.

On Huston’s departure, Hardy told Variety: “Jack Huston is unfortunately unavailable to continue with us on The Crow….The Crow is an amazing project, and I am grateful that we have the time and patience to get it right. We look forward to unveiling our new lead and starting to film over the next several weeks.”

Relativity Studios, who are making the film, also said on Huston’s departure: “Jack is a remarkably gifted actor, and we look forward to working with him in the future…. Corin Hardy has a tremendous vison for The Crow, and we are working closely with him to continue prepping the movie and supporting him as he brings his vision to the big screen.”

The studio is now rumoured to be looking at a few different actors to take over the role, including Jack O’Connell (’71) and Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road).
