After failing to reignite his career with the likes of The Last Stand, Escape Plan and Sabotage, Arnold Schwarzenegger has went back to the well, reprising his signature role as The Terminator for this month’s Terminator Genisys, as well as having sequels to another two of his 80s hits on his upcoming slate in The Legend of Conan and Triplets.
Also in development – albeit without Arnie – is a new instalment in the Predator franchise from Shane Black (Iron Man 3), and the action icon has shared his opinion on the project during a Reddit Q&A, as well as dismissing the previous follow-ups to the 1987 original as unsatisfactory.
“I hope this [new] one will be great. The sad story is that sometimes studios do a great job at creating sequels, and sometimes they really screw it up bad, and it all has to do with greed. They sometimes want to do it really cheap and make as much money as possible, so they don’t hire the right cast or the right director. It’s a stupid move to make, and therefore they lose a lot of movie by doing that. So far, no Predator, no matter which one they did after the first one has come out, has been satisfactory to the audience.”With the likes of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and Terminator Genisys on his CV, not to mention Batman & Robin, it’s prety clear that Arnold knows a thing or two about disappointing sequels. Let’s hope The Legend of Conan and Triplets get it right…
