With second unit production currently under way and first-unit set to start in three weeks, we should start to see the cast of the Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One emerge officially pretty soon. But there have rumours for a few months that Ben Mendelsohn is set to join Felicity Jones and Forrest Whitaker.
Deadline are now reporting that Mendelsohn is just waiting for the final confirmation that he’ll be joining the cast after some comments he made at last night’s Emmy Award nominations. “I think it’s looking OK,” he says. “Things are looking positive, but I would think that’s something for them to discuss.”
“I’d be a very, very happy man,” Mendelsohn adds. “I’m right in the sweet spot for the actual first Star Wars. I didn’t wait in line for it, but I was nine or ten when that came out. It was a big deal, a huge deal. I went a couple of times to the movies to see it, so I’m a lover of that whole thing.”
Mendelsohn has previously been rumoured to be playing a new Moff character.
