Take this one with a healthy pinch of salt, but Cinelinx is reporting that Lucasfilm is set to follow the Netflix model of fellow Disney subsidiary Marvel by launching a series of live-action Star Wars shows on the streaming service – three, in fact.
Back in March, the same site claimed that development was underway for a live-action show that would use the sets constructed at Pinewood for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One and the future Star Wars movies coming out of Lucasfilm. They also suggested that a trilogy of Star Wars movies centred around Obi-Wan Kenobi is in the works.
It is of course inevitable that we will see a live-action Star Wars series at some point, and given the success that Disney has had with Daredevil, Netflix would seem a prime location (especially as it’s already hosted the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars). Still, until we hear something a little more official, this needs to be filed firmly under rumour…
