Those who are still mourning over the death of George Miller’s shelved 2008 Justice League film rejoice, because the Mad Max: Fury Road director may get the chance to bring part of the DC universe to film after all!
A new rumour from The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? director Jon Schnepp claims that Miller will direct Man of Steel 2, the eventual sequel to Zack Snyder’s 2013 film that kicked off the upcoming DC Extended Universe.
Of course, next year’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is, technically, Man of Steel 2, but both Zack Snyder and star Henry Cavill have said that a more straight-forward sequel is in the cards. The next solo Superman film doesn’t have a release date at this time, but is expected to arrive sometime before 2020. Exactly where it will fall in the already-packed DC Extended Universe is a mystery, especially with Ben Affleck’s Batman solo film on the horizon (and lacking a concrete release date) as well.
Schnepp did not reveal where his intel on Miller’s involvement originated, so we’ll have to take this update with a Kryptonite-sized grain of salt for now. Until more news arrives, sound off with your thoughts on a Miller-directed Man of Steel 2 in the comments below!
