Last week a rumour emerged from The Death of Superman Lives – What Happened? director Jon Schnepp claiming that George Miller (Mad Max: Fury Road) is being lined to direct Man of Steel 2 for Warner Bros.
Now Den of Geek is chiming in to the report, claiming that Miller is indeed in talks with Warner Bros., although it’s unlikely to be for Man of Steel 2, as the Superman sequel is being described as on “permanent hold.” Instead, the alleged collaboration “will depend on what story most interests him, his take on it and everyone’s availability.”
Man of Steel 2 was absent from Warner’s list of DC movies through to 2020, which is bound to keep the studio busy over the next few years, especially if talk of a Batman trilogy is accurate.

Given that Miller has recently directed Fury Road for Warner Bros., and was previously attached to the abandoned Justice League Mortal, it would seem likely that the filmmaker is on the studio’s list of potential candidates for its DC slate. However, these reports sound a lot like speculation, and if Miller moves ahead with Mad Max: The Wasteland he’d surely struggle to fit in a DC movie any time soon.
