After news last month that director Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) had signed on to direct the big-screen adaptation of hit TV show Baywatch, word has arrived from The Hollywood Reporter that Bad Neighbours star Zac Efron is in talks to join the cast.
Dwayne Johnson (Fast & Furious 7) is headlining the big-screen version of the film, which tells the story of California lifeguards. Efron will co-star as the “young rule-flouting hothead” in the film, which has production set to ramp up ready for a January or Feburary 2016 start. Damien Shannon and Mark Swift (Friday the 13th) have written the last version of the script.
Baywatch, created by Michael Berk, Douglas Schwartz, Gregory J. Bonann, ran between 1989-2001, with a cast that included David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson amongst others. The film version is set for release in 2017.
