Marvel’s Luke Cage series has added another villain to its cast, with Mahershala Ali (House of Cards, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay) signing on to play Cornell ‘Cottonmouth’ Stokes.
“Mahershala is an actor of extraordinary range and gravitas. As Cottonmouth he will really let loose,” said Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “Luke Cage won’t know what hit him.”

The official character description states that “Stokes, a Harlem nightclub owner, will become an unexpected foe in Luke’s life when Stokes’ criminal activities threaten Luke’s world.”
Luke Cage will get underway next year, with Mike Colter (The Following) as Luke Cage, Rosario Dawson (Daredevil) as Claire Temple, Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy) as Shades, Alfre Woodard (Desperate Housewives) as Black Mariah, Simone Missick (Ray Donovan) as Misty Knight and Mahershala Ali (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay) as Cottonmouth.
