We’ve seen and heard very little about Jason Momoa’s upcoming role as Aquaman in the DC Cinematic Universe aside from a promotional image from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder, which showcased a very different take on the King of Atlantis from what we’re used to in the comic books.
Speaking at the Dallas Comic-Con (via CBM), Momoa revealed that he’s been researching the New 52 version of Aquaman, but fans should expect to see a lot of “new things” and need to “keep an open mind”.
“There’s not really a lot of spoilers I can give away. But the research I’ve done on the New 52 stuff with Geoff Johns, and just researching who he is, he’s amazing. He’s got a lot of powers. He’s extremely tough. He’s super strong. But I’m excited about… there’s a big beautiful map laid out and I wish I could carry it with me. It’ll come out soon enough and you’ll see just how big it’s going to be.”
Momoa will make his debut as Aquaman in next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, before headlining his own James Wan-directed solo movie in July 2018.
