Despite the departure of Guillermo del Toro back in June, it seems that Warner Bros.’ Justice League Dark – a.k.a. Dark Universe is moving ahead, with The Tracking Board reporting that produce Scott Rudin has joined the project and the studio is looking to prioritise the supernatural DC ensemble for production in 2016.
Although plot details are being kept under wraps, the site reports that the film will involve “a series of ancient tomes stolen by a madman hellbent on the destruction of humanity. When he learns of this, occult detective John Constantine seeks out a group of heroes that specialize in the mystic and arcane in order to save the world.”
At this point, it’s unclear where Justice League Dark will fall within Warner’s schedule of DC movies, given that it was absent from the initial announcement, but if production does get underway next year then we should expect a 2017/2018 release date.
