We Found Ray – So Ray Palmer was trapped in a “polymer” holding cell by Damien Dahrk for a few months, let’s say, that housed tiny cameras to keep an eye on him. He…you know what, I just can’t do it. I can’t try to explain away the logistics of this entrapment as Dahrk had his scientists work on tech to use Palmer’s miniaturization on his guinea pig; a strange gridded map that looked a bit similar to some of the graphics in the underground temple on the island (or am I reaching?) I like Ray on the show and I loved Felicity’s tenacity at confusing Ray’s near death and over-extended imprisonment in sharp contrast to the greatest love of her life, unrequited for quite some time but even on a show such as this, where sometimes it’s best not to question the logic of it all, but I just can’t do it. This was ridiculous and not in a good way. And just like every other returning character (ie; Sara, Barry’s father) Ray seems to just want to get the hell away from it all.
Did anyone else think we were seeing the end of Olli-city? -Does anyone even reference that cutesy name anymore? The facts are those two characters (and actors) are great together; the way they’ve changed each other, or found each other in each other, is very evident and I understand every relationship has it’s rough patches, but to play up that they may be at an end when there is so many reasons why they should stay together was very forced. It didn’t last long; in it’s defense, and even when Oliver says, as he sits up on the bed, shirtless and hulking and gorgeous, “can’t believe we made it this far” as his relationships don’t have a good track record, but just settle into this and let it keep riding. Felicity feeding off the danger (more and more of it) as Oliver domesticates himself (as a pretty good chef and keeping a journal?), it’s a fun transition and a path that no one knew they wanted but feels right to be on. I believe they may continue to stumble as more and more roadblocks come up and as the finale looms closer and the tombstone rears it’s ugly head (i’m getting the sense it could be Thea now)
7.5/10- Sara and Ray are back….for now and neither excited me to see them; Felicity and Oliver and their relationship seemed to be the focus of the episode but this didn’t feel like their strongest stuff and what happened to Oliver’s campaign? It’s now a backdrop for another fling for Thea?
Other Notes:
– I couldn’t tell if Thea’s off hand remark about Felicity “really taking this CEO thing seriously” was flippant or real?
– Holt held his hands up to Oliver’s face to look at his jawline? And had him researched? Who does that?
– The island stuff is much better than it’s been in a while- slow burn and Conklin’s more of a threat than I first thought
– Momma Smoak is back and may have eyes for Capt. Lance- seems soap opera-y and why am I looking forward to it?
– Did Felicity and Curtis really just base jump into a building? Like literally a thousand things could have went wrong with that and it’s just a pretty casual scene
– Dahrk wanted to take a “little peeksy” how cute
– His scientists referenced “Dwarfstar” ( a comic book villain of the Atom whose nuts) but I’ll stop now “just because you understand this science stuff doesn’t mean it isn’t boring”
