Spectre shatters box office records with $80.4 million from six markets, including biggest ever UK debut

November 2, 2015 by Gary Collinson

James Bond’s 24th official adventure has been shattering box office records in its first week of release, with Spectre pulling in $80.4 million from six markets, including a historic performance in the UK.

Released here on Monday, Spectre has amassed £41.7 million ($63.8 million) in its first seven days of release, eclipsing the previous seven-day opening record of £23.9 million set by Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban back in 2004. Spectre has also overtaken its predecessor Skyfall for the biggest ever seven day gross, and also topped the film over the Friday-Sunday period, earning £20.4 million compared to Skyfall’s £20.1 million.
