On Wednesday evening, Warner Bros. unleashed the latest trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, giving fans our latest peek (well, it was a little more than a peek) of the big DC superhero epic.
According to Variety, the new trailer pulled in 23.2 million views in its first 24 hours on Facebook and Twitter, down on the 30 million views for both the teaser and Comic-Con trailer.
It’s also down considerably on Marvel’s trailer for Captain America: Civil War, which racked up a whopping 61 million views in its first 24 hours – although that included other sources to YouTube and Facebook.

While Marvel fans will no doubt claim victory over their DC rivals, it should be noted that this was the third trailer for Batman v Superman, as opposed to the first for Civil War, so realistically it was always going to struggle to reach the same level of engagement.
Nevertheless, that’s still a pretty wide gap, but the only battle that really matters for Marvel and DC is the one at the box office next year. So in other words, it’s not quite Doomsday for Batman v Superman just yet…
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is set for release on March 25th 2016 while Captain America: Civil War opens on April 29th 2016 in the UK and May 6th 2016 in the States.
