Neil Gaiman and Guillermo del Toro pitched Marvel a Doctor Strange movie

December 2, 2015 by Gary Collinson

The Sorcerer Supreme is set to make his big screen debut next year, with Marvel Studios currently in production on the Benedict Cumberbatch-headlined Doctor Strange.

However, the Master of the Mystic Arts could have had a movie back around the release of the original Iron Man, had Marvel Studios been interested in a pitch from Neil Gaiman and Guillermo del Toro, and Gaiman has been sharing a few thoughts on the matter on his Twitter account.

“I still wish Marvel had been interested in a Guillermo del Toro and me Doctor Strange movie, because I wanted to write Clea so badly after 1602. It was a conversation I had with Marvel Films back in 2007. At the time Doctor Strange was way down their list and we let it go. It was a conversation or two. Del Toro was making Hellboy 2. I remember he had one particularly brilliant idea for a way to do Doctor Strange.”

Neil Gaiman and Guillermo del Tor doing Doctor Strange? Now that would surely have been something to see…
