Well, this won’t come as a surprise at all, but Disney and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been shattering box office records with its opening day.

In the States, the film pulled in $57 million from Thursday pre-shows, overtaking the previous record of $43.5 million set by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 back in 2011. It opened officially in North America today, and could become the first film to pull in over $100 million in a single day.
Here in the UK, The Force Awakens grossed £2.4 million from its midnight opening, and earned £9.6 million on Thursday, the biggest single day of all-time in the UK. By close of play yesterday, it had amassed around $130 million internationally.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is out now and sees J.J.
