Tales from the Crypt reboot in the works from M. Night Shyamalan and TNT

January 7, 2016 by Gary Collinson

M. Night Shyamalan is set to reboot the classic anthology series Tales from the Crypt as the centrepiece offering in a new weekly two-hour horror and suspense block for TNT, which Shyamalan is programming.

Deadline reports that the new series will be based on a combination of William Gaines’ original EC Comics, along with new stories, with Shyamalan serving as executive producer.

“This is a new genre for us in our series efforts and a great chance to partner with M. Night Shyamalan, whose blockbuster hit The Visit reminded movie audiences and critics this past summer that he truly is a master of horror,” states Sarah Aubrey, executive vice president of original programming at TNT.

Shyamalan saw an upturn in his fortunes last year with the low-budget horror The Visit and the TV series Wayward Pines. He is currently in post-production on his latest film Split, which stars James McAvoy.
