According to Deadline, Universal Pictures is looking to introduce a female villain for the eighth instalment of the Fast & Furious franchise, with director F. Gary Gray and screenwriter Chris Moran said to be eyeing Mad Max: Fury Road star Charlize Theron.
The site reports that no offer has been made to Theron as yet, nor has the actress seen the script. However, she has previously worked with director Gray back in 2003 on The Italian Job, and the part is said to be a “juicy role and a primo spot for any actress.”
Fast 8 will launch a new trilogy of films when it hits cinemas on April 14th 2017, with Fast & Furious 9 set for April 19th 2019 and Fast & Furious 10 due to arrive on April 2nd, 2021.
