Details on Ryan Reynolds and Tim Miller’s pay for Deadpool revealed

February 24, 2016 by Gary Collinson

20th Century Fox’s Deadpool has been a massive hit for the studio, with the film closing in on $500 million and expected to reach as high as $800 million before its run comes to an end.

In a piece over at The Hollywood Reporter, details of the pay cheques for leading man Ryan Reynolds and director Tim Miller have been revealed, with the site reporting that Reynolds was paid $2 million up front for the film, while Miller received a $250,000 upfront fee which is standard for many first-time directors.

Of course, given the success of the movie, both can expect to receive some nice backend compensation, with Reynolds (the only actor eligible for bonuses) looking at over $10 million in total, and Miller potentially earning several million dollars from the film.

And with a sequel already announced, Reynolds is said to be renegotiating a hefty pay rise for Deadpool 2, as is Miller, who is not contractually obligated to return.
