Having been rumoured back in September, Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow, Into the Woods) is now in talks with Disney about portraying the magical nanny Mary Poppins in Disney’s upcoming sequel.
The project will reunite Blunt with Into the Woods director Rob Marshall, and is said to be set in Depression-era London 20 years after the events of the original film starring Julie Andrews.
The new film is being written by David Magee (Finding Neverland) and is being developed in collaboration with the estate of author P.L. Travers and with support from Richard Sherman, co-composer on the 1964 film.
