With Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and now Star Wars: Episode VIII all receiving December releases, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Disney has given up on the saga’s traditional May dates.
Well, it seems that isn’t quite the case, as Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed that the young Han Solo Anthology movie is retaining its May 25th 2018 date (at least, for the time being).
“[Rogue One] is the first of a set of planned stand-alone stories,” said Iger on a Disney earnings call. “We’re already in pre-production on out next one, for release in May 2018.”
The Han Solo movie is being directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street, The LEGO Movie), while the shortlist for the role of the smuggler is said to include Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Dave Franco, Jack Reynor, Scott Eastwood, Logan Lerman, Emory Cohen and Blake Jenner.
