Back in December it was reported that Cate Blanchett was wanted for a role in the upcoming Marvel sequel Thor: Ragnarok, with Mark Ruffalo subsequently supporting the rumour. And now director Taika Waititi has confirmed that the two-time Oscar winner is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“Yes,” Waititi tells Wired when asked if the actress is set to appear in the film. “Look, it’s so early I’m not sure exactly what the extent of it is, but it’s looking good, which would make me very happy.”

Asked about the rumour that Blanchett will play Hela, Waititi responded that: “Yeah, the rumor … Here’s the thing. I can’t say anything. I’ve probably said way too much.”
Thor: Ragnarok is set for release on November 3rd 2017 and features a cast that so far includes Marvel veterans Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif), along with Cate Blanchett (Carol).
