In the wake of Deadpool’s box office success, 20th Century Fox is embracing the R-rated comic book movie, with Wolverine 3 aiming for that rating and X-Force looking likely to follow suit, while Warner Bros. too has announced an R-rated cut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
However, despite venturing into darker territory with its Netflix series, it seems we can forget about an R-rated entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Disney’s Bob Iger ruling the prospect out today whilst talking to shareholders.
"We don't have any plans to make R-rated Marvel movies," Iger says in response to a shareholder comment about Fox's hit film, "Deadpool."
