After its stunning debut of $75 million in the States earlier this month, Disney’s Zootopia continues its dominance of the global box office, with the film set to pass the $500 million mark this weekend.
The film, which has received glowing reviews so far [read ours here], has passed $164 million in the US in its first two weeks, and looks like it could stay atop of the chart for third week, beating out Lionsgate’s new Divergent entry Allegiant [read our review here], and Sony/Affirm’s Miracles from Heaven [read our review here].
Zootopia has also been doing stellar business at the international box office with over $327 million grossed already, and is now Disney’s biggest animated release ever in China ($134.8 million). It has also taken $24 million in France, $15.9 million is Germany and $15.5 million in Korea and still has its UK release (March 25th) and Japanese release (April 23rd) to come.
In addition, the film stands second at the 2016 global box office behind 20th Century Fox’s Deadpool, which has amassed $711 million worldwide.
Zootopia (known as Zootropolis in the UK) opens here on March 25th against Warner Bros.’ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
