Walt Disney Pictures has set another of its animated classics for the live-action treatment, with David Lowery set to direct a new Peter Pan movie from a script that he’ll write with Toby Halbrooks. The duo have previously teamed on Disney’s Pete’s Dragon remake, which is set to open in cinemas this August.
Peter Pan is not the only J.M. Barrie-related project in the works at Disney, with Reese Witherspoon attached to the lead role of Tinker Bell in Tink. As yet, there’s no timescale for either project, although it’s thought that Tink could go into production first, and their may be some crossover in terms of the cast.
The announcement follows the news from earlier this week that Jon Favreau has been set for a sequel to The Jungle Book, with the first movie set to open this Friday.
